Variety – the Children’s Charity partnered with Cummins Inc. to build 50 bikes for local children in eastern Iowa. The bikes were gifted to youth at Four Oaks in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
“Variety is thrilled to partner with Cummins to provide bikes for children at Four Oaks,” said Carissa Johnson, Eastern Iowa Director of Variety – the Children’s Charity. “Mobility, freedom and confidence are all gained through the simple pleasure of riding a bike. We are always so excited to provide that opportunity to more kids.”
“Four Oaks is grateful to Variety for their generous donation of 50 bikes,” said Debbie Craig, Four Oaks Chief Advocacy Officer. “We value our partnerships with organizations like Variety as we work to carry out our mission of assuring children become successful adults.”
“Cummins is proud to support Variety - the Children's Charity of Iowa and connect these bikes to Four Oaks where they will be enjoyed by local youth,” said Jim Schacht, Executive Director, Corporate Responsibility, Cummins Inc. “We are appreciative of both these organizations and our shared commitment to the Cedar Rapids community.”
The Variety Mobility program provides bikes, helmets and locks to children who have never experienced the joy of owning their own bike. Bikes go hand in hand with being a kid, but for many children in our community, the prospect of having their own bike is only a dream. Variety helps make that dream a reality.
